Michael Mosley, a well-known British TV presenter and doctor, was found dead on the Greek island of Symi. Local authorities announced the discovery on Sunday. Mosley, who was on holiday in Greece, went missing on Wednesday during a walk.

The Search for Michael Mosley

Mosley, aged 67, lost contact with his family on Wednesday afternoon while walking back from a beach. His wife reported him missing on Thursday morning, which initiated a large-scale search operation. The search included tracking dogs, divers, and a helicopter, as well as examining surveillance footage.

One of the island residents reported seeing him last in the area, which became the focus of the search. Unfortunately, on Sunday, Greek police found a body near one of the island’s beaches, later confirmed to be Mosley.

Discovery Details

The mayor of Symi, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, highlighted the unbearable heat on Wednesday, suggesting it could have caused Mosley to faint. The body was discovered only 10 meters from Agia Marina beach, where around 200 people were present. Greek police reported that the body was found on rocky terrain, lying face up with the head on a rock.

Papakalodoukas mentioned that the body was found after filming the area from a boat with a TV crew. The footage provided clear evidence that it was Mosley. A coroner was sent to Symi on a coast guard vessel, and Mosley’s body will be transported to the nearby island of Rhodes for further examination.

Who Was Michael Mosley?

Michael Mosley was a prominent figure in British media, known for his work on health and diet programs. He featured in BBC’s “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor,” Channel 4’s “Michael Mosley: Who Made Britain Fat?” and BBC Four’s “Infested! Living with Parasites,” where he lived with a tapeworm for six weeks. Mosley was also a columnist for the “Daily Mail” and hosted the BBC podcast “Just One Thing.” He gained fame for creating the popular 5:2 and The Fast 800 diets.

Last Sightings and Speculations

Before he went missing, Mosley was last seen by his family around 1:30 PM on Wednesday. He left the beach to walk towards the island’s center. Reports from local sources indicated that he might have been seen in Pedi, a village 1.5 kilometers from the beach. Surveillance footage showed him talking to a woman in Pedi, but there were doubts about whether it was truly him, as he was wearing different clothes than those seen by his family earlier. His wife believed it was a different person.
